Knowledge for its own sake

I've always been passionate about the humanities disciplines: history, literature, philosophy, the arts. I wanted to learn about human nature, culture, why we are the way we are. The humanities are fading to make space for subjects deemed "more practical." We've begun to value efficiency over depth. We are losing the pursuit of knowledge in the pursuit of success as if they are mutually exclusive.

This is a book about the loss of the humanities and how it’s changing education, the world and us as people. Moreso, this is a book about the importance of learning and seeking and asking. Of taking the time to dig beneath the surface. Of reigniting the spark of understanding what it means to be human. Of knowledge for its own sake.
